' 1 ■ ■" Young Man Sufferi RevolTer Wound SPRINGHILL TRADEGY A young man of 18, Edward Thompson, lost his life iu & Shooting fatality on Mr E. W. P. Coles's property, Springhill, Ongaonga, yesterday, A revolver bullet eutered the tbigh of his right leg, and it is presumed that death was due to loss of blood and to shock. Mr Coles, who had been away in town all day, returned home at about 7.30 o'clock last evening attd, on going up the drive, saw a dark ohjedt lying by the corner of the house. Hc inVestigated and found Mr Thompson unconscious Und groaUing. He W&6 bld8ding badly from the right leg. Mr Thompson was carried into the house, and an examination showed a bullet wound in the fhigh. A revolver Was lying on the kitcheh tabfe. Mr Thompson was put to bed after being given attention, and Dr. C. Baymond, of Waipukurau, was summohed. Dr. Baymond arrived iu less thau 45 minutes, but Mr Thompson had expired just before .hds &rriv&l. . Constable EUston, of CMgaoflga, conducted au investigation. He found * bullet hole in the insxde of the trouser pocket. Mr Thompson had been In the habit of carrying a rCvolver in Ws trousers pocket, and . though remonStrated with had contxntied to do so. It is probable that he was handUng tho revolver at the time it discharged, the bullet accidentally enterlng the leg. Mr Thompson had been in the employ of Mr ColeS for Only six treeks. It is believed that Ms parents reside at Grev Lynn, Auckland.
