H.B.'S WOOL CHEQUE
Estimate oi £2,387,000 For Last Season INCREASE OF £750,000 The livelier demand by overseas buyers for New Zealand wool during the past season has meant that Hawke's Bay gjrowers have received over threequarters of a million pounds more than they did for wool sold during the 193536 season. The past season' s wooi cheque for this province is estimated to have totalled about £2,387,000. This figure is based upon the sale of 108,500 bales at afi. average price of £22 a bale. The 1935-36 wool cheque Was about £1,555,620, representing the sale of 129,635 bales at £12 a bale. * This season' s wool prices were the best 6ince the 1927-28 season when, according to Dalgety's Raview, the average price per bale for the whole of New Zealand was £23 18/4. An estimate oi £22 a bale for this season' s wool may be slightly conservative; it might be a more accurate Judgment to Say that it was nearly £23 a bale. Cottsiderably more wool wag eold in the 1935-36 season than during! the past season, on accotint of the tact that the offerings included much "heldover" wool. In the foilowing table the reventie forthcoming from the four wool saies held at Napier during the past season is shown, together with the immber of bales offered, and all sold:—
