HOCKEY
Tournaraent in Napier The hoekey season opened in Napier on Saturday with a tournament in which five senior men's teams,- four senior women 's and four junior men's took part. The games were most of them very evenly contested, and the play on the whole was good for tho early part of the season and gives promise of reaching a high standard before many games have been played. Kiwi won the men's senior competition with three wins and a draw. Their play was marked by good combination between backs and forwards, while the latter passed well and were excellent in positional play, in which respeet somo of the opposing teams were rather lacking. Technical College Old Girls won the women 's senior competition, and in their game with Napier succeeded in notching a win by one goal to nil, though Napier were attacking most of the time. ' Their work in tho circle, however, was not up to their usual standard. Kiwi won the men's junior section atfer a play-off with Kiwi.
