TIMAEU, Last Night, At a largely-attended indignation meeting of ratopayers of the Levels County to-day, a resolution was carried: "That this meeting is of opinion that there should bo no interference with existing counties in South Cautcrbury until the proposals of the Government for amalgaination of local bodies have been translated into legislation and until the ratepayers of each county affected by amalgamation have been x consulted. " A deputation was appointed to wait on the Levels Council to ask it to oppose amalgamation until a referendum of the ratejiayers has been taken.
