WAIROA, Last Nigbt. As already intimated in these notes the Anzac function is. to take on a difFerent form this year, beiug Sunday, and the children will not take part. The loeal churches will have the jforeuoon all to themselves, and their j congregatious. The general parade is to be held in the afternoon at 2 o'clock, headed by the Wairoa Band, iinishing up at Coronation Square, but should the weather we wet the afternoon proceedingp wil be held in the Gaiety Theatre. The following programme has been arranged following ' the playing of a march by the band; — Addreas bv His Worship the Mayor, Mr H. L. Harker; address by Colonel R. F. Gambrill, president of the Gisborne Returned Soldiers' Association; address by the Rev. C- E. Hyde, vicar of St. Paul's Church, followed by the sotmding of "The. Last Post" and "Reveille." There is to be no celebiation at Nuhaka. In comroon with other functions in Wairoa to be affected by the restriotions imposed by the Health Department consequent on the epidemic of infantile paralysis, is the anuual pilgrimage of the children to the war gravea in the cemetery. lt has hitherto been the eustom at the close of the Anzac celebrations to see a large contingent of children benig motored to the cemetery bearing some very beautiful wreaths to be placed on the Cross of Remembrance and the several ■ graves. This will now be done on Sunday on behalf of the local R.S.A., while the Municipal Band will play eorne appropriate music' at Coronation "Square.
