Arrangements in Waipawa

WAIPAWA, This Day. , The Anzac J)ay ceremonial in Waipawa will take the form that it has done in previous years. Th© parade will assemble at the Post Office at 9.45 p.m. The procession headed by the Waipawa Municipal Band, will then march to the. Memor.ial clock, where ,'a short service will be held. ' The •. speakers will be Mr H. M. Christie, .M.P., and Mr H. T. Limbrick, presiI dent of the Waipawa branch Of the j Returned Soldiers' Association. , The firing party will be provided by I a squad of boys from the Waipawa , District High School. All Iteturned Soldiers, whether members of the Association or otherwise, and South African veterans, are cordially invited to pafticipate in the ceremony,. Mufti will be the dress with decorations and medals. Services suitable to the cccasion will be held in the various, churches. At 10 a.m. on Friday the Waipawa District High School was the scene of an impressive gathering when pupils of both secondary and primary departments assembled to take part in the Anzac service. The following bcdies were represented :--School Committee (Mrs Adeane) and Returned Soldiers' Association (Messrs Harker, Eagle, Hawke, Adeane and Ghisholm. The Rev. S. Keen read a passage from the scriptures, and the Rev. F. W. Robertson offered up a prayer. The Rev. Mr Drake, in his address,. impressed upon the children the necessity for peace, and urged tliem all to strive tow&rds attaining this, so that the sacrifices mad© by the men from Waipawa, New Zealand, and the whole of the British Empire would not have been in vain. .. The singing of the National Anthem concluded a very impressive ceremony.
