I Harvest Festival, A special festival was beld In St. Peter's Church, Waipawa, last evening, i ihe preacher being the.llev-. R. T. Hall, of Otane, assistcd by Canon E. Rice, Waipukurau. A special featuro was Ihe singing of .the choir, .whieh was strengthened for the occasion by the r-hoir from St. Mary's Waipukurau, j and St. James's, Otane. Supper was afterwards served by members of tlie Mothers' Union. Otane Basketball. Tlie Otane Basketball Club will opcn its season on Saturday aftenioon, when a frieudiy match will bc played witb the Waipawa- High Sebool tcam. •Olay Bird Shooting, Mr 1'V L. Jobliu, Wairoa, had numerous sueeeases at the Gisborno claybird shoot. He was in gooil positionS in tlie singles, six-bird handieap, Ameriean liandicap, Poverty liay championehip, double rise clxampionship, Ameriean shoot at doubles, ten bird handieap, and al$o recorded the longest run of ihe day with 49 straiglit, Mr A. Mossman being second with 37 straight. Mr Bert Williams, Wairoa, has been elected a viee-president of the Wairoa Pirates' Football Club. *
