FUTURE BRIDE HONOURED AT EVENING AT WHAKATU
On Wednesday a gift evening was held in the Whakaki Hall on the occasion of the approaching marriage of Mr. George L. Melntyre, of Hereheretau. A pleasant evening was spent ^in community singing, competitions and dancing, Mr. J. Wilson acting as M.C. Items were given as follows: — Song (encored), Miss M. Watson; sdng, Wha- • kaki Boys (encored); recitation (encored), Mrs. Smith. Mr. Duigan presided at the piano. « Supper was delightfully set on long' tables in the supper room. After opening the parcels of useful gifts Mr. G. Melntyre responded in a ncat littl© speech. The evening concluded with the singing of ."For He's a Jolly Good Fellow:" and "Auld Lang Syne."
