THE GALATEA ESTATE
A Good Investment "I have many times heard it said that there must have been some undue influence behind ,the Government of that day when it bought the Galatea estate, but I believe all this criticism is unwarranted, and that the estate was bought at a very reasonable price," said Mr. D. V. Bryant, of Hamilton, after a visit to the estate. "It would have been a good business proposition at the price to run it as a sheep atation," he added, "but even for the purpoae of eutting up I beReve it must certainly be suecessful," Land on the estate was easily developed, and carried a good sole of grass, said Mr. Bryant. Its Teturns spoke ffor themselves. There was no difficu ity in growing turnips for. Vintex feed, and the stock was in excellent condition. Farming methods on the estate were most praetic'al. "A portion of this estate is, to my mind, among some of the best land in the Auckland Provinee," said Mr. Bryant, "the particular part being a drained swamp, Roading must have eost a good deal of money, but it not only opens up the Galatea eetate, but also much country in the surrounding district. The whole thing is,*in my opinion, a real national asset."
