OTANE GATHERING
The monthly meeting of th,e Otane Women 's Institute .was held on Friday afternoqn, Mrs. A. Bull presiding, in the absence of the president, Mrs. It. H. Tod, over a full attendance of members. The motto for the month was: "Cheery people help weary people to forget their woes." The sum of £2 was voted to the Coronation Com'mittee for the entertainment of the children on coronation day, and two trees will be planted by Institute members to commemqrate the day, Mrs. 'Biddle, Hatuma, gavo a delightfully entertaining tallc on a recont visit to Japan, vividly describing the scenery, placas of interest, and the life and customs of the Japanese people. A v6te Of thanks was accorded Mrs. Riddle for her much appreciated address. Ther . wero large entries in both competitions, which were won as follows: — Flowets, Mrs. J. MacDoqgall ,1, Mrs. Dougjas 2; pot of jelly, Mrs. W. Spargo, jur. 1, Mrs. Orani .2, Mrs. Bull 3. A delicious afternopn tea was served by ihe hostesses, Mesdames Barrie, Black, Arnott, Batrlett and Ballard.
