Sherenden Meeting The first meeting of the Sherenden Women' a Institute for the new year was held on thb afternpojv of Thursday, April 16, and augured well for the such cess of meetings, Mrs J, Boyd presided over and welcomed a splendid rally of members, four new ones being proposed, Mrs Noel BlaPnsh was elected delegate fo the Nbrthern Hawke's Bay arrnual general Council meeting and Miss Nancy Attwood treasurer for the ensuing year. The constructive criticism of the remits was very jnteresting, and every--one answered the roll call of jam-mak-ing hiiits, these being excellent. The competitions resulted as follow : Best hloom in the garden. — -Mrs Noel Beamish (daMia) 1, Mrs McGrave (rose) 2, Mrs A, Wbyte (fuchsia) 3. Juniors. — - Miss Margaret Mattnews (dahlia) 1, Miss Myra Attwood (rose) 2, Miss Kath Matthews (dahlia) 3. Decorated floating bowls.— Mrs MeGrave 1, Mrs Noel Beamish 2, Mrs Attwood 3, juniors.— -Miss Myra Attwood 1, Miss Nancy Attwood 2, Miss Kath Matthews 3. Best pot of apricot jam (winner to give recipe). — Mrs Attwood 1, Mrs Smiley 2, Mrs McCrane 3, Juniors. — Miss Myra Attwood 1 and 2. Best pot of tomato reiish.— Mrs Jack Wedd 1, Mrs Smiley 2, Mrs McGrave 3. Junicrs.— -Misg Margaret Matthews . l,Miss Norar Connor 2, Miss Myra Attwoed 3. The points trophies for "the past year were presented: Most points in Industry class.-^Mrs Smiley and Mrs Attwood 1, Juniors, — Miss Nora Connor 1, Miss Myra Attwood 2. Floral classes. — Mrs Noel Beamish 1, Mrs Attwood and Mrs Gibson, equal, 2. ' Juniors. — Miss Myra Attwood and Miss Nora Connor 1, Mrs A, Whyte, for most points preceding year, Mrs Boyd and the Misses M, and N. Attwood, M. and K. Matthews and N. Connor then entertained with a hnmorous one-aet play "In the Dentist's Waiting Room", after which delicious tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Mesdames Attwood and Clarkspn, the singing of the National Anthem closing a very bright meeting.
