£5 Fine For Negligent Driving A fine of £5. and, ihe endorsement of his licence was the penalty imposed npon Herman Ronald von Dadelszon, of Havelock North, when he was charged in the Hastings Court this morning with negligent driving. The .' charge arose out of a collision which occurred betw'een defendant and another car on the Napier-Havelock road. Defendant did not appear, but pleaided guilty through his counsel, Mr. W S. Av'erill. • For the police, Senior-Sergeant G Sivyer. stated. that the defendant had a/"brush past" another- car, and the driver "of the other car laid a.complaint to the police; When interviewed, de fendaut stated that he was returning f rom. Taupo and was exceptidhally tired. , - The , collision had occurred mainlr through 'defendant failing to keep a proper look-out, continued Mr. Averill •'Defendant was sleepy after his long drive aud there was no question of excessive speed. The Magistrate, Mr. J. Miller, in convieting and fining defendant £$, with costs .10/-, ordered that defendant 5s licence be endorsed for the remainder of the chrrent term.
