Rugby Sub-Union Decides To Disband

PORANGAHAU, Lafct Night. At the annual meeting of the East Coast Rugby sub-Union, altboughi only one team was nominated for the season's competition, officers were elected and it was decided not to disband. The management committee decided to give the teams ' until its next meeting a chance to form and nominate. The meeting held last Wednesday brought forth no result and the sub-union will go into recess for the season. This does not neqessarily mean that there will be ho football on the Cpast, for the sub-union will try and arrange matclies among younger players from time to timo. The question of players, who wished ta do so, going to other subunions, was brought up and, although the chairman thought that these players should make a further effort to form teams, it was. decided to allow them' to go where they wished. A meeting was convened in Porangahau last week-end for the purpose of forming a combined team from Wanderers and Pahu to play in the Central Hawke's Bay sub-Union. Mr Kutu was in the chair and a good number of old players were present. A club was formed as the Porangahau Football Club, "with black and gr«en as its colours. Th© Hawjie's Bay Union and the Central Hawke's Bay sub-Union ar© giving this club. support and a team is to play next Saturday. The officers are as fojlow : Patron, Mr Rangi Ropiha; president, Mr J. W. Cook senr. ; committee, Messrs J. W. Oook, Jack Cbok, G. Kuru, T. Kuru and W. Wakefield; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. Petua; selectors, Messrs Jack Cook and. G.
