DUMPING GOLD

7 Teletcraph — Press Assn.

Steps Expected in U.S.A. To Stop Practice TAX OR LICENSE FEE

(BJ

— Copyrieht.?

(Received 21, 11.45 a.m..) NEW YORK, April 20. The New York Times says Wall Street fiources are informed that President Roosevelt's economia advisers are considering positive measures to check the flow of gold from abroad. A decision as to the type of action has not been reached, but the Administration is convinced that the situation permits jother nations virtually to dump gold here and requires the Treasury to borrow money to pay. This must be corrected. The plan, which is receiving the foremost consideration, is an import tax or licence fee of sufficient size to deter importB. This is equivalent to a reduction iu the Treasury's buying price and may account for the reduction rumours which were officially denied.
