ATJCECLAND, This Day. The executive of the United Listeners' Club held a special meeting today and later issued a statement viewing with concern the failure of the Government to honour its pre-election pJedges regarding B stations. "Both written and repeated verbal utterances by the Bt. Hon. Mr J. Savage and his colleagtues had assxn'ed listeners that justice would be done to B stations," says the club. "The truth is that after 16 months no subsidies or assistance have been given in accordance with eleetion pledges and it now appears that an attempt is being made to eliminate them by Government purchase. ThiB method of dealing with a major issue of the 1935 general eleetion is exhausting the patience of listenets. "The XJnited Listeners' Club asserts that the Government has no mandate from the electors to make broadcasting a State monopoly and we are fully in agreement with the Hastings Chamber of Commerce that the Government should buy out no B station until the opinion of listeners is obtained."
