WAIPUKURAU GROUP
The monthly meeting of the Waipukurau Women 'S Institute was held in the Masonic Hall on Tuesday afternoon, Mrs H. Duckworth presiding oyer an excellent attendance. . The meeting opened with the Inetitute song and Aspiration3. . ' An interesting report on the recent Federation meeting held in Waipukurau was gfven by the delegates, Mesdames Perkins and Pendray, for -which they. w.ere a.ccorded a vote of thanks. Mrs A. Young read a history of old .Waipukurau days which had been compiled by Miss N, Wilson, and was of ; great interest. An instructive demonstration on the making of thrif t articles from old felt hats. was given by Mrs E. M. Grifiiths, who also displayed some usoful completed articles. . . The competitions for next month will be: Coronation apron, wholemeal sconcs, sponge roll (nd butter), best chrysanthemum bloom. The pqints pfize for the year was won by Mrs F. Fraser. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames E. M. Griffiths, T^ Given, L. Grifiiths, G. Edmonds, Johnstone and Miss Davey. One new member, Mrs G .Toines, was elected. An enjoyable half-hour was spent in commuhity singing and the meeting closed with the singing of the Nationa' Anthem.
