SHOOTING POPULAR
Many New Napier Club Members OFFICERS FOR SEASON Evidence of the public's interest in miniatnre rifle shooting was demonstrated last evening at the annual meet-ing-of the Napier Miniature Rifle Club when the number of new members equalled almost half the club 'a present membership. The meeting opened with the club captain, Mr. • J. Munro, in the chair, and this position was later oceupied by the captain for the. coming season, Mr. I. L. R. Green. The balance-sheet showed that the flnances of the club were in a very satisfactory position, even without taking into consideration the f aet that a new 'rifle was pnrchased during last season. The report and balance-sheet were adopted without discussion. The eleetion of officers resulted as follows; — President, Mr. F. Ormond; vice-presidents, Messts. T. Flemwell, F, D. Logan, O. White, G. It Was decided that the opening night be Wednesday, April 21, and that the opening taho the usurtl fotm of a match between teams picked by the captain and vice-captain. Members decided that last year's provisions as to payment of subscriptions should be continued during the current year. This means that the sub*
scription is 5/-, if paid by June 30) and 7/-, after that date. Mr. Srong, the club seeretary, rematked that during the 1936 season all members paid in time to receive the benelit of the reduced rate. Whether the club should invest in a telescope came under discussion during the evening, It was pointed out that the club was under no obligation to provide oue and was entitled to leave tho members to provide their own. Members were also nndecided whether spotting was desirable and the majority maintained that it was very liable to. make a shooter nervous. On tlie gi-fluitds that a telescope and tripod was a desirable piece of clnb equipment a motion was finally adopted that the club purchase these articles.
