WAIPUKURAU,^ Last .Night, The Waipukurau Borough Coiiucil decided at its meeting to-night th«k.t the council 's employees should be granted a paid holiday on Coronation Day. The Town Clerk, Mr. H. B. Smart, was authorised to take over. the strings of coloured lights owned by the Chamber of Commerce and to obtain the necessary additional material for the illuminating of Ruataniwha street. The Mayor reported that the Power Board would provide tho power free of charge. It was also decided that the Borough Council should take over the matter of tho illumination of the main street for such occasions in future. • The question of the hiring of floodlights for the main street was 'also left in the liands of the engineer. It was decided to purchase a large Union Jack and a New Zealand Ensign with sufficient additional bunting- for the decorating of the Borough Council Chambers. A donation of £10 was made to the Coronation Committee toward the entertainment of the children on Coronation Day. A donation of 15 guineas was made to the King George V. Memorial Fund.
