(From

WAIPAWA, This Day. Winter conditions prevailed for the opening of the Rngby season in Central Hawke's Bay on Saturday, a steady rain falling most of the day and a cold wind blowing from the South. Old Boys' points came from a try by Haines (unconverted) and two penalty kicks by Bryce, while for Waipawa Kelly, Martin and CHristensen scored, neither try being converted. Mr Edwards refereed.
