"Uhguarded Hou^," Tuiesday Franchot Tone, fresh from his laurels as the young midshipman in "Mutiny on the Bounty" and as the newehawk in "Exelusive Story," is excellent in his role of the English proseeuting attorney in ''The Unguarded Houiy'' one of the most successful photoplays in New Zealand to-day, which comes to tho Waipukurau Theatre for one night only to-morrow at 8. The story of "The TJnguarded Hour," itself a successful stage play, concerns a London barrister (Franchot Tone), whose brillianee enables him to send men to the gallows by circumstantial evidence alone, In his most sensational case he finds his wif e (Loretta Young) the witness whose testimony absolves the defendant, after which he himself becomes involved in a murder, trussed in a ring of circumstantial evidence which he cannot break. It 's a mystery melodrama which never lags from the start to the thrilling courtroom finish. The supporting cast includes Lewis Stone and Roland Young. A brilliant suppofting programme includes Laurel and Hardy in ' ' Thiclcer * than Water," and "Polo," a Pete Smith sports thrill. Seats may be reserved at Hawke's, phone 282.
