(Reeeived 19, 12.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 19. Maeartney, writing in the Morning Herald, says jt is difficnlt to understand why New Zealand tonrs are not utilised as an instructional ground for Australian cricketers as well as for the purpose of lending a helpful hand to the sister Dominion. "In New Zealand there is a grand opportunity- for Australians to become better acquainted with soft wickets," says Maeartney. ''They would thereby be better equipped to meet the Englishmen on rain-damaged wickets both in Australia and England. No player wonld refuse to vjsit England with an Australian XI, yet some players bave declined to visit New Zealand. Becanse of these refusals the New Zealand Qrieket Council has been foroed to negotiate for vjsits of English teams to f oster their crieket. A much simpler method would be for the Australian cricket authorities to send teams to New Zealand. Such teams must have in. them a sprinkling of international players, otherwise the tours could not be a financial success.
