RIVER CONTROL SCHEME

Cost to Harbour Board The Tutaekuri river control scheme will involve the Napier Harbour Board in an additional cost of £1470, of which £338 has already been paid out of the genei'al account in the meantime. The board' s total share towarda the work Was originally £15,000, which was raised by loan and paid over to the Hawke's Bay Rivers Board, but the estimates for the work have already been exceeded, and the work is not yet completed. "In my last report I stated that it was expected thatv the diversion works would be completed within the estimated cost but largely on account of the increased cost of labour this has not been possible," said the chairman of the Napier Harbour Board, Mr Trevor M. Geddis, in his report adopted at the annual meeting of the board taclay.
