SERVICES APPRECIATED
Board and Staff Activities Reference to the long and effioient work for the Napier Harbour Board of its retired secretary, Mr J. P. Kenny, is contained in the annual report to the board of the chairman, Mr Trevor M. Geddis,' which was presented to the board at the annual meeting this afternoon. Mr Kenny, who served the board for almost 51 years, is at present on holiday in Great Britfiin. Appreciation of the work of members of the board and the staff . was also expressed in the report, which states : "I have to acknowledge with gratitude the assistance I have received at all times from the members of the staff. Mr E. J. Herrick, deputy chairman, was called upon to act as chairman for sdine months during my recent illness. I desire to acknowledge my appreciation of the manner in which he carried out the duties. I also wish to express my appreciation of the generous assistance of the chairmen of the various committees of the board — Mr P. F. Higgins (works), Mr J. Barker (reserves) and Mr L. Stephenson (bylaws). The staff, too, has loyally and efficiently carried out its duties and to them also my thanks are extended. I desire to make special mention of the activities of the resident engineer, Mr G. W. B. Loivson, the harbour master, Uaptain H. White-Parsons, and also to the other officers of the board associated with them."
