' Keen Bidding for Beef Fat cattle of good quality were a feature of the entry at the Matawhero stock sale, and there was an exceptionally keen dernand at slightly improved prices. Bidding was keen for store 3heep, but there was only a Bmall entry for fat sheep} which were not in giood demand. BEEF. In the beef sectioii 50 head of fat cattle "were entered, practically oll dairy sorts. The quality was better than that of some of the reeent yardings. The market all round showed a fair improvement in values for both cows and vealers. Jersey cows made to £4 2/and £4 5/-; Herefords, of medium finish, £4 7/6 and £5; vealers £l 11/- to £2 15/-, with £3 10/- for an extra good one. For a moderate-sized entry the sale generaily was very bright. Lambs inade as a rule from 13/6 to 19/6, with ewe lambs 23/3 to 26/3. The wether market was active at 23/2 to 25/- for good lines. The breeding ewes offered wero not attraetive, making 19/- to 23/8. Empty ei,es brought 17/10 for fat and forward and k pen of 44 in hard condition n ado. the high value of 15/7. The pricef. in the fat sheep section were — F--es.— Four at 19/2: 29, 21/1; 31, 19/10. i-iambs. — Six at 19/-; 9 19/3, 21, 19/7. ' Second-grade ewes.— Four at 18/7: 11, 18/9-
