CATTLE FAIR AT FEILDING

Prices Rise Above Expectations - - WELL ABOYE N0RMAL There was a generous entry of eta-' ■ tion-bred cattle for the cattle fair at the Feilding live stock sale yesterday when rather excited competition caused prices to rise above expectations. The yarding included a fair proportion of inferior lines which failed to mahe any appeal to those out for good young cattle and these were mostly passed in. Good well-bred young cattle of station breeding were keenly sought after but the prices were considered on the high side and likely to prov© unremunerative. A ehoice pen of Aberdeen Angus weaner steers realised the rather fancy price of £6 2s which some opinions held was well above the normal and safe market value. For good straight farmers' lines the inquiry was bright and well above expectations. Aberdeen Angus bullocks made to £9 14s. Values for fat sheep which reached a new high level last week experlenced a further improvement yesterday with excellent competition. With the yarding inclined to thin out a bit store sheep experienced a good sale, prices being flrm on late' rates and a total clearance being. xecorded. The offering of fat cattle comprised mainly female beef ex dairy and sold at late zates. Dairy lines were conspicuous by their absence.
