MUNICIPAL THEATRE

. MUSICAL MYSTERY aSwee't Surrender," a musical show released by Universal, opens at the Municipal to-night. It stars three newcomers who are destined to go a long wray in pictures. Two of these are stars, Tamara (and is she loveiy ?) and Frank Paxker, the radio tenor. The third is Helen Lynd, whose daffy cnmcdy is a masterpxece of foolery. Prominent in the proeeedings is nono other than ' Jack Dempscy former heavy-

veight champion. The Manassa Mauler^ ooking as good as when he was knock-. ng thein dead jn the ring, plays in ihe scenes set-jn his New York restuarant. ^Another gorgeous scene is bhe Sally 'Milgrim fashion show in whieh dozens of cu^e girls parade in late fall and winter styles through one of .the . grand salons of th© giant S. Stt Normandie. - Dana Suisse has wiit.ten some charm* ing musio tor "Sweef Surrender", including ''Sweet . « Surrender", "Taka This Ring", "I'jn So Happy I Could Cry", "Love Makes the World Go Round", "The Day You Were Born", "Let's Toddle Home", "Let us Hav« Peace", "Twenty-Four Hpurs a Day", "The Apassionata". The audience hears the voices, o£ the actors on tlie screen. But what if the situa-tion were altered, that the actorai could also hear the voices of the /audience? How often we could clear up in an instant a mystery which sorely puzzles .those shadowy figures on the screen! "A Notorious Gentleman" also at the Municipal, is such a picture. The audience sees a murder committed, but on the screen no one is present except the murdered man and the killei * and the audience thus has the thrill oi sitting back in possession . of all the facts and watcliing th© battle of witi going forward on the screen.
