MARRIED WOMEN

May Act in Relieving Teaching Positions Married women scliool teachers may now be employed in relieving positions, subject to certain conditions laid down by the Education Department. The Hawke's Bay Education Board has been advised that in view of the fact that the supply of ex-trainees has largely been absorbed through their ap-. pointment to permanent positions, the department has now agreed to the employment of married women teaphers in relieving positions on the following conditions ; — • (a) They may be employed only if a supernumerary teacher is not available in the board' s own district. ,(b) They are not eligible to receive salary as for supernumerary teachers (£150 per annum) during the periods between relieving positions. (c) As far as possible, in order to avoid payment of boarding allowance, married women living in the locality in which the vacancy occurs, should be employed.
