NAPIER MATCHES
Anticipating that the first football of the season would show considerable lack of condition, all spgctators at McLean Park on Saturday last were very agreeably surprised at the bill of fare provided. It went to show that tlie. players commenced practice early, and that last Saturday's match proved' that players were in reasonably fit condition. The displays of football given were of a totally opposite nature, thoso on No l ground being a display of back movement football, whereas forward work predominated on No 2 ground. To-morrow at McLean Park promises further bright football, as on No I ground two teams noted for playing open football will oppose oue another. These are Napier and Hastings H.S. O.B. teams. On No 2 ground Pirates will meet Hastings. Recent meniories recall that last Saturday Pirates almost upset the deboutsible Marist team, aiid that Hastings prevaiied over M.A.C. In both matches it will be very difficult to predict the winners. Junior matches will also be played at 1.30 p.m. but third and fourth grade matches will uot commerce untij Saturday, April 24.
