FURTHER BIG INCREASE
Heavy Water Consumption Another substantial increase was noted last month in the water consumption of. the Hastings borough compared with the same period last year. Reporting on the water pumped during the month the ^Borough Engiineer, Mr C E. Evans, said that last month 47,085,000 gallons were pQmped, compared with 39,120,000 gallons in Marcb of last year. The rainfall for the periods under review was ,86in. and 5.89in. respectively. Havelock North pumped 7700 gallons in excess of their own requirementB. The number of water connections to the borough system was increased by three last month, bringing the total now to 3519-
