H.B. COUNTY COUNCIL RATES
F. E.
EYANS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, — I notice Mr. Logan 's hints at the riding membebs being empowered to increase the rates. Ye Gods! Perhaps Mr. Logan and his fellow squat"ters are able to jpay an increase out of their stupendous wool and meat cheques, but it is certain the small flat-land farmer cannot pay an in* crease on last year 's. Take my own case for instance: Land tax 3/9 per acre, river and county rates 12/- per acre, equivalent to the rent per acre of an improved farm in" Ergland. — Yours, etc.,
Twyford, April 15, 1937.
