The tourists will leave Sonth ° Africa on May 14 and hefore coming to New Zealand will make . a short tour of Australia where they will play eight matches, including two Tests. The progranune for New Zealand included 17 matches, and Hawke's Bay will be visited by the tourists on September 15, ten days' before the third and final Test at Auckland. First appeared for Natal in 1921 while still a schoolboy at Maritzburg College, Played for Natal against the British team in South Africa in 1924; fer tho Springboks i» all four Test matches against tho New Zealand All Blacks in South Africa in 1928; ia all Tests for the 1931 Springboks ia Great Britaia; and ia three Tests against the Australiaa Wallabies ia South Africa ia 1933. Likely to be vice-captain of the team. Learnt his football as a schoolboy in the Orange Free State. Has played for Stellenbosqh (25 miles ea^t of Cape Town) University since 1930. Was a member of the 1931 Springboks teami which toured Great Britain, losing cnly one game out of 26, Played against N.Z. All Blacks in South Africa in 1928, and the Australian Wa'.labies in 1933. vihce in 1924, at the age of 18, and turned out against the British team in South Africa in the same year, Has earned a reputation for an outstanding and tneless rucker. Was first choice among the forwards for the 1931 Springboks' tour of Great Britain. Had previously played in four Test^ against the Australian Wallabies in his heme country in 1933. Age 30. Height, 6ft. 6in. Weigfit, lSsfc. 61b. S. c. LOUW (Western Province): A very fine all-round forward. Plays in the front row. Was a member of the 1931 Springboks' team in Great Britain, and played against the Australian Wallabies in South Africa in 1933. Age 27. Height, 6ft. Weight, 13st- 131b. FEROIE BERCH (Criquaiand West); Forward. Came into prominence with Stellenbosch University. Played fer Gombined South Africaa Universities against tho New Zealand All Blacks in South Africa in 1928. Was a member of the 1931 Springboks in Great Britain, playing in all the international matches. Played in all Tests against the 1933 Australian team. Is a giant of a forward, and many coneider him the best in his country. Age, 29. Height, 6ft. 3in. Weight, 16st. 31b, CERRY H. BRAND (Western Province: Full-baok. Was first choic© fqr the full-back positjon in the 1931 Springboks' team in Great Britain, and filayed in every Test, as well as in 18 of the 26 matohes. A most versatile player, he made a creditable showing as n winger against the AU Blaeks jua South Africa in 1928, Was full-baek against the 1933 Australian team. Age 29.^ Height, 5ft. 10in. Weight, llgt, JIMWY WHITE (Border Provinoo): Centre-three-quarter, Was a snrprise choice for th'e 1931 Springboks in Great Britain, but on tour justified his selection, and played jn the Test against Wales, First played. for Border Province in 1930, Played against the Wallabies in 1933, Ag© 25, Height, 5ft. 11 in- Weight, I3st. 31b, P, 4' LYSTER (Natal): Winger. Strong runner and eolid defender, Played against the Australian Wallabies in 1033, One ©f the stars o.f the team. Age 24, Height, 6ft. Weight, 14st, 21b, P, do VILLiERS (Woftorn Provippe); Half-back Has represented Western Province many times and played for the Springboks against the New Zealanders in South Africa in 1928 in three Tests. Was a member of the 1931 South African team in Great Britain, and played against England. He also represented his country against the Australian team in South Africa in 1933. Thougb small and light, he is wiry. Age 31, Height 5ft. 7in, Weight 9st. 101b. KOFFIE HOFMEYR (Western Province): Oentre-three-quarter. Played for Western Province last year as a colt, with Babrow as second five-eighth. Although young, will probably be depended upon ia th# Test matches.
D. O. WILLIAMS; Wing three-qu*r-twr* "Baby" of the 1931 side. Powerful winger, who will take a lot of stopping one© in his stride. Stands more than six feet, has a vicious fend, can eidestep and swerve with the be.st. Always runs etraight, Age 23. J. LOTZ (Transvaal) i A fine stamp of hooker, whp toils hard from start to finish. LUCIEN BABROW (Wwtern Pr#vjnoe); Gentre three-quarter. Still littlo more than a colt. Combines well with his team mate, Hofmeyr. DENDY LAWTON (Wootorn Provinoe): Wing three-quarter. Trifle elower than Lyster, but his side-step and fend compensate for any lack of speed. Spectacular dashes fpr the line are his strong point. M. VAN OEN BERO (Wostern Provinoo): Forward. He ia me of the giante of the team and was one of the outstanding players against the Wallabies in 1933, GEORGE VAN REENAN (Wostern Provfnoe); Forward. He is reoognised as one of the best esponents of lineout play and in this phase ofi the game is hriUiant, He is also a noted track athlete and shot-putter. Age 25 years. Height 6ft. 3ing, Weight 14et. 5lbs.
