NAPIER PARTY TO SWELL PLUNKET FUNDS

The Mayor.ess, Mrs C. O. Morse, who is a vice-president of the Napier Plunket Society, was hostess yesterday arternoon at her residence in Delhi road at a most enjoyable funetion arranged to aid the funds of the Pluuket Society. Mra Morse reeeived in a frock of navy silk taffetine figured in green, white and red. The bodice had a pretty latticed square yoke inset, >fi'nished with a double row of kilting. Mr E. G. Vaughan, a sister of the Mayor, who is staying with them, assisted Mrs Morse. She wore an American model crepe frock in the new London tan shade; it was distinguished by the smart neck draping and tie, and novel gold and silver metallic belt. Various competitio'ns were held. Mr A. E. Denholm was first and Mrs MitfordTaylor second in guessing articles on a tray; Mrs I. Husheer won the cot cover competition and Mrs H. Hildebrandt the knitted child's frock. «Mrs Alan Morse, the Misses Adele Forsyth and Gwen Pirie were valued helpers during the afternoon. Specially interesting were card readings by Mrs J. Rickell, who wore a pretty costume for the part, and tea readings by Mesdames Jaffray (Clive) and JeffareB (Greenmeadows). A delicious tea was served in the sun [ounge, drawing and breakfast rooms. Floral decorations were very artiBtiiially arranged, there being dahlias in hall and drawing room, chrysanthemums in the breakfast room, and the sun lounge had branches of fruiting crab-apple with bowls of chrysanthemums and blue scabious. From each room a glorious view of the bay was seen and the sputh portion of Napier with Marewa, and in the background Taradale and the hills. Everyone spent a most enjoyable time and the funds of the society will benefit eonsiderably. There were present: Mesdames C. O. Morse (hostess), E. G. Vaughan, Alan Morse, E. C. Pirie, "A. J.
