; WELLINGTON, Last Night. A compliment to the Press of New, Zealand was paid by the Minister of Labpur in the Vietorian Government, Hon. E. J. MaCkrell, at a dinner given in his honour by the Acting-Prirpe Minister, Hon. P. Fraser, at Parliament Hou'se to-day. 4 'I have found the Press of New Zealand tolerant in its views, temperate in its statements and very well printed," he said. Some mnrmuring came from the Cabinet Ministers round the table, which eaused the visitor to add: " Of courae, I have not seen them in an election year,'* _
