WAIPUKURAU, This Day. None of the sections fronting Ruataniwha street and Northumberland street, which were put up to auction by Messrs de Pelichet, McLeod' and Co. at . the Oddfellows' Hall yesterday afternoon was sold, although it was thought likely that some business might ,be done privately afterward. The first lot put up was Lot 6 on the corner of Ruataniwha stteet and Northumberland street, with a ffontage of 38ft. llins. Bidding was very slow in starting but eventually commeuced at £40 per foot, but was paased in at £44 per foot, Lot 7 with a frontage of 20ft. 2jn. on Ruataniwha street, commeneed at £25 per lot, but was passed in without a further bid. Lot 8, 20ft. 2in., was - passed in without a bdi at'all. Lot 5, with a frontage in Northumberland street of 22ft. llin., was ccmmenced at £10 and passed . in. The remaining sections were passed without being offered. A suggestion that the eight lots be offered in one lot was accepted and put up, but no bid was forthcoming. Another corner section of .2 xoods 30 peches, situated near Turner and Butler.'s old garage on the left-hand side, with nothing on it except a boundary fence, owned by the Hunt Estate, was then put up, but there were no bids for this either.
