As she was returning to the lending library, one of them, Miss Nutting, noticed a man walking away from the counter; she thought he had been changing a book, but noticed that the parcel was missing and followed him as he commenced to run along Bracken Avenue. He entered a saloon car, the engine of which was runliing, and the fact that he entered by the left side suggests that a driver was awaiting his return.
