AUCKLAND, This day. As the Epsom branch library _ was ^.bout to elose laat night a man picked up from the counter a parcel containing £60 odd, a cash ,book and a receipt book and made off. The two library attendants were at the momenf replacing books in the reading room and attending to. other duties. As she was returning to the lending library, one of them, Miss Nutting, noticed a man walking away from the counter; she thought he had been changing a book, but noticed that the parcel was missing and followed him as he commenced to run along Bracken Avenue. He entered a saloon car, the engine of which was runliing, and the fact that he entered by the left side suggests that a driver was awaiting his return. Flying squad detectivOs were soon on the scene and are still investigating.
