(By Teleerapb-
HAMILTON, This Day. The report of the committee set up by the Government to ihquire iuto the incidence of abortion in New Zealand was referred to by Ardhbishop Averill at the general Synod of the Anglican Church last evening. The Primate said he expected that members of Synod had read the terrible report with consternation. report seemed to him to be a challenge to the Church to take some notice or action as far as could be done. The Mother 's Union might consider the matter. It
would be evidence of indifferenee "and apathy or even cowardice if Synod refused to consider the report. Arehbishop Averill said that the commission deserved ' congratulations for investigating the problem so thoroughly and exhibiting the moral courage it did in putting the truth before the public. He suggested that the question should be referred to the Social Service Commitee for consideration, but no 1 motion was put.
