GOLF SEASON
Takapau Club's Opening From Our Qwn Correspondent. TAKAPAU, Last Night. The Takapau golf course was officially opened for the season on Saturday afternoon, when there was a large attendance of members of the club as well as many visitors from other clubs in Central and Southtrn Hawke's Bay. Major McDonnell, president, .welocmed. the visitors and declared the course open for the season, Mrs J. B. A'Deane driving ojf the first ball in the competition for the afternoon, a Canadian foursome over 12 holes. Mrs J. B. A'Deane and L. W. Reid (Waipukurau) were popular winners of the competition. The fairways and greens, which have received expert attention during the off season, promise to be in gjood condition for the playing season, but the ground, owing to lack of rain, is yet on the "hard side, for the hormal winter game. A professional golfer " has been v engaged and many ' of tbe younger playirs will be pleased to' have the advantage of expert tuition in making a good start in the game.
