Ladies' Day Held

, (From

. . WAIPUKURAU, April 12. ■During the week-end on the Mt. Vernon range the Waipukurau Defence Rifle Club held another ladies ' day. The shoot was for Mr. F. Wilson's trophy (10 shots at 600 yards). . Conditions for shooting were- very hard, a glaring sun and a st'rong left wind had riflemen .thinking. Nevertheless, some good cards were handed in, Rifleman Haldane1 heading the list with a total of 48. Dur-' ing the afternoon, afternoon tea was provided by the members of the club. The ladies then tried their skill with the rifi6 (five shots at 500 yards), but again a fading light made it difficult for them. Miss Wilson was top scorer with the total of 20.
