RED CROSS APPEAL
Over £200 Raised in Napier An amount in excess of £200, which is expected substantially to beat last year's reeord colleetion, was obtained by colleetors in the annual appeal of the Napier branch of the New Zealand Red Cross Association. Defiuite knowledge of , the amount is not yet available, as several boxes have yet to be returned, ,but money already handed i in exeeeds tbe double-century figure. In connection with the appeal, various competitions were held at the Red Cross shop, results of which were: — DoIIs' hospital, ticken No. 693; turkey, Miss L. Jamieson; second turkey, Mr J. Fenwick; dinner, Mrs H. Hum* pbiies; box of sweets, Mrs J. A. Stewart; guessing weight of cake (13 i ounds, Oi ounce), Miss Cass; second cake, Mrs Wood, McDonald street. The dolls ' hospital, which met with the admiratipn of all who saw it, was the work of Mr Lang, the outfit for the beds and nurses being made by Miss Jean Bowman, Sealy xoad, Napier.
