Presentation oi Trophies Won SMOKE CONCERT HELD The annual wind-up of tbe cricket season in Hastings and tbe presentation of trophies took place at the Oddfellows' Hall last evening wben a smoke concert was held by the Hastings Cricket Sub-Association. There were over 40 present, and in the unavoidable absence of the pation, Mr G. A. Maddison, and the presideut, Mr H- BrentonRule, the chairman of the management committee, Mr A. Mahoney, preslded. The evening was a great success ii) every respeet, all the clubs in the various competitions being represented, as well as a delegation from. the Hawke's Bay Cricket Association. The principal toasts honoured during the evening were "The 'Kina," by the chairman, "The. H.B. Cricket Associatioii^" ' by Mr S. Craven and responded to by Mr JB. J. Mahoney j. "The Hastings Cricket Sub-Association," Mr L. J. ■ Fisher,' and- replied to by Mr A. Mahoney; "The Umpires," by Mr M. A. Beuth and replied to by Mr V. Hawke; "The . Selectols and Secretaries," by Mr. A. Mahoney, and replied to by Mr E. E. Elliptt (H.B. Cricket Associatiori),- Mr C- Arthur and Mr E. Mitchell. Other toasts were "Kindred Sports,'' by Mr A. Biggar, "Groundsmen,i' by Mr S. Rouse, "The Prqss," by Mr J. Martiii,-and "The "Entertainers,". by Mr G. Arthur; , . The presentation. of. the trophies was made by the chairman, who congratiilated' the ' recipients on their successeSj and as regards the awards to the junior players, he urged them, in - their own interests as well as of that of the- game

generally in the- district,- to seek senior status. "The trophies were won as follow:— Hastittgs championship (Old Orkney Oup), Hastingfi Club • (L. • J. "McCarthy, eapt.) ; mid-we'ek championship, 'Heretaunga' Club' (S. Rouse, * capt) ; junior championship, Whakatu Club (J; Christensen, capt) ; Brabin Cup (for most improved junior player), L. Mitchell (Whakatu Club) ; Ransford bat"' (for best junior bat), R. Drinkrow, Otane. During the evening musical items were colitributed by Messrs McKay Bros., Boyle Bros. and W. Lord. *
