AUCKLAND HOSPITAL TROUBLE

Surgical StafPs Opinion of of Dispute EXPERTS IGNORED

(By Telesrranh—

AUCKLAND, Last Night. The criticism that the recent elections for senior and assistant honorary surgeons to the Auckland Hospital wero unfairly conducted and that the Hospital Boafd showed an absolute disregard of its expert advisers is made by Dr, | Prank Macky, chairman of the honor- ? aiy staff in a statement he has made on behalf of the wholo staff. ' Dr. Macky said that the statements that had been made about the position were definitely misleading in material . points. "'The direct result of these elections is that three members of the senior surgical staff have been dismissed without any reason and replaced by men with inferior experience and shorter serviee to the hospital," says Dr. Macky. "Subsequently this selection was. unanimously approved by a fuller meeting of the board to the surprise and disquiet of the medical men engaged in the work of' the hospital and- of "those engaged in gensral practice in the city. "It is patent," said Dr. Macky, "that lindividual members of the board never .considered seriously the recommendajtions of the two expert committees both of which had brought forward reports iat the request of the board, and, let it be noted, these two reports were identical. The action of the board showa an absolute disregard of its expert advisers and of its own committees. "
