Queen * Carnival Suggested To Raise Funds

WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. A meeting of the management committee of the Central HawkeJs Bay Rugby Sub-Union was held last evening. Mr A. L. McCormick presided over Messrs Cuthbertson, Kedgley, Nicholls, Harvey, French, Phillips, Rickettsj Ferguson and WilliamsonApologies were received from Messrs v oyce and Sharpe. Mr McCormick welcomed the new members and said he was pleased also to greet again memibers who had served some time on the committee. The draw for the senior and junior competitions was submitted by the fixtures committee was approved, and it was decided to commence play on April 17, although it was recognised that the state of the gjrounds would be a detriment. It was decided to make a grant of £7 7/- for use by the Central Hawke's Bay branch of the N.Z.E.L in the encouragemerit of school football. Three teams were forthcoming for a third-grade competition and a sub-com-mittee comprising Messrs Fergusoft, Nicholls, Kedgley and Gallagher was set up to enlist further entxies in an elfort to have such . a competition , an aceomplished fact. The .llawke's Bay Rugby Union proposed Coronation l)ay as the day for fche Central Hawke's Bay seven-a-sido tournameiit, at Central Park, Waipukurau, and it was decided to accept this and make the tournament a whole-day fixture, ' Mr McCormick brought up the subject of holding a Queen carnival to laise funds for the dual object of.sending a team br teams on tour and stabilising the finances of the sub-uniqn by clearing off its indebtedness. The project was thoroughly discussed and delegates are to confer with. their clubs, after. which further discussion will ensue at the next meeting. SENIOR FIXTURES.
