OMAKERE, Last Night. A meeting of the Omakere Hall Committee was neld at the hall on Tuesday evening, Mr Forbes McHardy presiding. As a mark of respect to the late Mr C. J. Nairn (who was chairman of the committee up to the time of his death) all members stood in silence. Mr Forbes McHardy, vice-chairman, was unanimously appointed chairman, aqd Mr Allan Kittow, vice-chairman. The balance-sheet ana auditor's report were read and the balance-sheet adopted, and the seeretary was instrueted to send copies to residents of tho district. Miss P.ellow, the auditor, was. thanked for past services and a honorarium was voted her. Mr Forbes McHardy was appointed a trustee in the place of the late Mr Nairn, lt. was decided to augment the present trust funds, which will now stand at £31, and the committee is to be congratulated on the healthy state of the hall's financas, especially as painting ahd improvements, costing almost £51), were carried out during the past year. It is gratifying to know that such' good resuits were only obtained through the wholehearted co-operation of all the Omakere and district residents, who always turn up in force when any entertainment is put on fo* Ihe benefit bf hall funds. The lawns and trees are doing well, and the grounds committee is to be congratulated on the way things are being kept, Strangers passing through remark cn such display.'of civie pride.' Miss Nola Wallace aud Mr J. W. McLeod Were voted to the committee. Messrs McHardy, chairman, and H. Norris, seeretary, ' were appointed to operate the current account and as trustees to open an account in the 'Post Office Savings Bank for the trust funds, it now Oeing cofasidered that there is now no immediate likelihood of further loans being i-equired from the trust, as the whple of the hall; both iuside and. out, is in perfect order. A letter was received from the seeretary of tli8 Omakere ■ Football Club asking for free use of portion of the, hall for dressing-room, etc., when vislting teams come to the district. Their request was granted, and the seeretary was instrueted to advise-1 the club aecordingly. It was resolved to hold a grand Coronation Ball on May 7.
