H.M.A.S. SWAN AT NAPIER

rersonnel Entertained H.M.A.S. Swan, at present berthed at Glasgow Wharf, Napier, is attractingconsiderahle interest ,on the part of the publie, largely on aeconnt of the fact that she is purely a product of Australian manufacture. She was built at ' the famous Cockatoo Dockvard, near Sydney, and is entirely raanned by Australian ofiieers and men, Arrangements made for the entertainment of the patrol sloop's perscnnel include tennis for the ofiieers toda}-, various drives round the countryside, a picture party for th6 men tonight. Among the official visits paid to the sloop upon her arrival were those of the Hon. W. E. Barnard, M.P., Major L. Goss, representing the Defence Department; and Mr. C. F. H. Pollock, representing the Navy League. H.M.A.S. Swan is a sloop of nearly .1000 tons, and has a eruisiiig speed of eiglit knots. She is a unit of the Australian squadron at present visiting New Zealand. Other vessels in the squadron are H.M.A.S. Auslraiia (cruiser), H.M.A.S. Canberra (cruiser), H.M.A.S. Sydney (cruiser), H.M.A.S. Waterhen (destroyer), II.M.A.S. Yarra (destroyer) and H.M.A.S. Stuart (destroyer). The sloop at Napier terminutes her visit on Monday next. tf
