BADMINTON
Hastings Baptist Club The annual meeting of the Hastings Baptist Badminton Club was held on Thursday evening at 7.30 p.m., in the Baptist Hall. The Rev. C. 'B. Boggis, who presided, opened the meeting with prayer. The secretary read his repoit of the season's activities. This was accepted and the secretary was congratulated on comprising such a bright, brief report which struck' a note of encouragement. The treasurer's report on the financial position was very satisfactory. It showed that the club was in a secure position with a handy credit balance. Up till this season the club has played in the Baptist Hall, and after five or six years in a one-court hall they felt the necessity to engage a larger and more efficient hall and so the Drill Hall has been engaged for the coming season. Having three courts as' against the one a larger membership is needed to cover the greater cost of lighting and chuttle cocks, but with half-a-doz-en or more new members it will prove to be a very satisfactory move. With the greater scope for end play ar.d overhead play, which in the Baptist Hall were very limited, the standard of play will improve to a very go-jd standard.
