Henry Ford's Attitude To Sit-Down Strikes NO GRUDGE HELD
(By Telegraph-
-Copyright.)
NEW YOEK, April 8. A message from Waycross, Georgia, says that Mr Henry Eord announced a brief sit-down strike at 'the St. Louis assembly plant, a dozen strikers being escorted outsjde. Production is not affected. Mr Ford said: "We will never recognise the United Automobile Workers' Union or any other uniCn, but we hold no grudge against the strikers, and would again hiro them. We know that the men have been duped and coerced hy leaders of the union. Those who seize property which is not their own are in the same category as houscbreakers. Public officials should protect our rights. The workers participating in the recent strikes have lost. Tliey are being organised and their freedom is being taken away. They pay money to the unions and get nothing in return. History shows that all improvements in labour have resulted from industry, not from coercion through politics."
