WELLINGTON, This Day. The acting Minister of Customs, the Hon. M. Fagan, stated to-day that strong representations had been mad© to the Government respecting the importation of nsed motor cars. It had been stated that such vehicles -are be* ing imported in increasing quantities, disturbing the business of establisked motor-dealers and prejudicing the work of bona fide motor car assemblers. Bequests had been made that the importa- 1 tion of used or second-kand cars should be prohibited. "The Government," said Mr Fagan, "is conducting a thorough investigation and it should be distinetly under* stood by importers of used vehicles that, if it is found neeessary in tke interests of local manufacturers and traders and tke public generally to im» pose any restrictions, tke Government reserves tke rigkt to take suck stepS aS will make any suck restriction immediately effective,"
