LONDON, April 6. The Hoxis. W. 8. Morrison, S. M* Bruce, and W. Nash were the chief guests at the anncal dinner of the National Federatxon of Fruit and Potato Trades. Mr. Morrison, Minister of Agriculture, in proposin gthe Federation, attentioned the help that preferential tariffs^ had given Empire producers. The nutrition campaign had also increased fruit- consumption. ^ Mr. Bruce, Australian High Commis* Bioner, emphasised that Australian and New Zealand fruit did not compete with British and so'deserved the fullest help against foreign groweys. Mr. Nash, New Zealand Finance Minister, declared that Britain needed to cdnsume 18,000,000 more apples ft year before each member of the population had the traditional apple a day to keep the doctor away. Britain musfc find a way of enabling the poorer classes to consume more fruit.
