Fat Cattle Values A HEAVY YARDING Market for Bullocks Somewhat Easier P00RER SORTS 10/- DOWN A heavy yarding of fat cattle in whieh ox beef predominated was made at Stortford Lodge to-day. Except for extra good quality young sorts, -tbe market for bullocks showed-a tendency, to be easier. The yarding, which was of -263 head, included the largest percentage of bul» locks seen in the yards for several months. The quality, except for a.few pens, was not outstanding, being largely plain finished with many of the bullocks showing age. The top lines sold at 32/- per 1001b^ with lines lacking butchers3 quality and requiring finish, being fully 10/- a head down. In the female pens wero some splendid quality entries in which extra prime cows made to £10. Gne of 1 the outstanding pens was a line of welb bred young Hereford cows on account of Beamish Bros., Whanawhana, of ex« ceptional quality, which attracted. keen bidding. Among the pens of heifers was a particularly fine draft of Herefords and Aberdeen Angus cross4 Of outstanding quality and finish, they were among the finest seen in the yards for some time and met with very keet competition. With such quality lines from which to select butchers showed a reluctanca to operate on pens which were below their standard of quality. Among the .very young stock some splendidly grown vealers just off their mothers were readily sought after t# sell to £4 8/-. A mixed entry of horned Shorthom and Hereford bullocks, medium frameds being well finished, sold to -£11 5/-. A single large-framed heavy crossbred bullock, big boned and carrying quite a lot of condition, sold at £13 4/-. SeatonWenley, Maraekakaho, an entry of five clean-bred medium-framed. dehorned Hereford heifers, solidly finished and of prime quality, sold to £8 10A On account of the same vendor a linf of six medium-framed Aberdeen AnguaHereford cross heifers, ,showing prime condition, being splendid quality young beef, made in two cuts £8 7/- and £8 4/v, From the same source, five dehorned Hereford heifers, including two showing a Hereford. cross, in similar order to the previous entries, sol.d to £8 4/-. Further entries of splendidly-finished heifers, rather smaller grown than th# previous pens, sold" from £7 15/- to £8 7/6. A line of crossbred' vealers, just off their mothers, and carrying their calf fat, being in good order and ranging up to about eight months old, sold to £4 6/-. On aecount of Beamish Bros., "Whanawhana, ,two pens of well-bred Hereford - heifers, solidly finished, and in excellent order, being an outstanding line of quality young beef, sold to £9 7/-, COW-BEEF PRICES. On account of Beainlsh Bros., Whanawhana, three eytra prime, young, well-bred, horned Hereford cows in splendid order, being a quality beef entry, sold at £8 16/-. Three heavy Aberdeen Angus cows showing an extra prime finish ,and of good quality, being solidly fattened, averaging 7501bs., sold to £9 5/-. Two medium heavy clean-bred Aberdeen Angus, solidly finished, brought - £8 6/-. A single extra prime heavy Aberdeen - Angus-Shortliorn cross cow, very solidly finished and showing quality, topped the s market at £10.
