SHOOTING SEASON OF 1937
Game Which May and May Not be Taken HAWKE'S BAY RULES Rule3 to he observed in Hawke's Bay during the 1937 shooting season, beginning on May 1, are outlined in ihe New Zealand Gazette dated March 18. The open season for the shooting of all game other than paradise dxick ends on hue 30 (inclusive) and for paradise duck on May 7 (inclusive) . Game which may by law be sbot in Hawke's Bay comprises cock pheasants, Galifornian and Australian qtxail, malTard duck, grey duck, black swan and paradise duck. In regard to the limit bags allowed sportsmen, the Gazette states: "No person shall in any one day take or kill more tban five bead of cock pheasants, or take or kill imported and/or native game exceeding in number 25 head in all of grey duck, slioveller duck, mallard duck, paradise duck and black swan; or take or kill more than 15 head1 in all of mallard duck, slioveller duck, and paradise duck; or take or kill more than two head of paradise duck; or take or kill more than five head of black s^an;" The Hawke's Bay Acclimatisation Society deeided last night to recommend to the Department of Internal Aifairs a close season for opposum this winter.
